Massage Tips

How early should I arrive to my appointment?

To fully enjoy your experience I suggest that you arrive at least fifteen minutes early on your initial visit. I recommend that you use this time to fill out your confidential health questionnaire.

Should I inform you concerning any ailment, allergy, or health concern?

In order to assure maximum safety, a brief health questionnaire is required. Some health conditions are contraindicated with massage therapy/bodywork. If you have been referred to me by another health care professional, please inform me at the time you make your appointment.

What should I wear for my bodywork session?

Please wear comfortable loose clothing for most bodywork sessions. However, for Amma Bodywork, I ask that you undress to your comfort level. I will not ask you to do anything that may make you feel uncomfortable. I am highly trained in draping techniques to ensure your privacy at all times.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

A 24-hour advanced notice is requested when canceling an appointment. This allows others the opportunity for my services. Please call 262-309-2779 to cancel your appointment.

What about payment?

Cash or checks are accepted for payment.

Why should I drink water before and after my session?

The human body is composed of 70 percent water, and water is involved in nearly every bodily function, including digestion, nutrient absorption, circulation, and waste excretion. During a bodywork session waste products are worked out of the muscles into the blood stream. Drinking extra water helps to eliminate these waste products from the body.

What to do after your bodywork session?

Although you may feel relaxed and comfortable following your bodywork session, your body may begin to feel differently over the course of the next couple of days. It is important to remember that you have experienced a therapeutic bodywork session. You may feel soreness and/or fatigue due to the release of muscle waste products during your bodywork session.

Here are a few tips that will help minimize these symptoms, providing a better overall result:

Drink plenty of water (at least 64 ounces within 24 hours)!
Water will help your body flush the toxins that were released during the bodywork session.

Perform deep breathing exercises.
Deep breathing exercises are helpful and will supply muscles and other tissues with oxygen-rich blood.

Remember to stretch gently!
Your therapist will advise you if stretches are appropriate.

Soak in a HOT Epsom salt bath.
Add one cup Epsom salt to your bath and soak for 10 – 15 minutes… RELAX!
